OUT OF THE KITCHEN AND INTO THE NEW OFFICE

26. February 2024, 15:0016:00

WHAT EMPLOYEES ARE LOOKING FOR – AND CAN’T FIND IN GASTRONOMY?

Moderation: Margitta Eichelbaum, Zukunft Personal

Hiring as a chef in the banking world? You read that correctly. Jörg[1]Uwe Pfeiffer is responsible for HR at Sparkasse Bremen and shows how a traditional company succeeds in being attractive to young people from other sectors through transformation. Authentically flat hierarchies, self-organized teams, agile structures – or all of the above? Marcel Vohmann reveals what he celebrates most in the new world of work. Jörg-Uwe Pfeiffer brings the former chef and current colleague to the stage.

Jörg-Uwe Pfeiffer, Senior Manager Human Resources, Die Sparkasse Bremen AG

After training as a bank clerk, Jörg-Uwe Pfeiffer studied economics. This was followed by a traineeship at Eismann Tiefkühlheimservice in Mettmann, where he later worked as a regional sales manager. He has been contributing his expertise to Sparkasse Bremen since 1998: first in sales promotion and as Head of Marketing, and from 2012 in Human Resources. As Senior Manager Human Resources Development, he is an active driver of the financial institution’s radical transformation process – always with a clear view of the complex requirements that he is familiar with from his various professional positions.

Marcel Vohmann, Junior Trainee, Die Sparkasse Bremen AG

Marcel Vohmann has a truly unusual career path: he started in the catering industry as a dishwasher in 2008 and has continued to develop his skills. After completing his cookery apprenticeship on Wangerooge, he went on a culinary exploration tour for several months – through Switzerland and Austria. This was followed by a variety of positions, for example as sous chef at Compass on Wangerooge, at HANSA in Bremen and again as sous chef at the Feuerwache in Bremen’s Überseestadt district. In 2020, the thoroughbred chef ventured into a completely new world: he joined Sparkasse Bremen, where he completed an apprenticeship in the HR department and now works as a junior trainer.
