INTELLIGENT KI-BASED FEEDING AND GROWTH OPTIMIZATION SYSTEM FOR AQUACULTURE SYSTEMS

25. February 2024, 13:4014:00

Seawater Cubes and the August-Wilhelm Scheer Institute for Digitization(AWSI)

  • Laura Bies, Digitization Professional, AWSI

Moderation: Benjamin Küther, Science manager at Hochschule Bremerhaven

The FishAI project aims to improve the productivity and profitability of recirculating aquaculture systems through the use of intelligent, data-based feeding systems based on camera systems, acoustic sensors and dynamic growth models. This system enables more accurate forecasts of feed requirements, production quantity and quality, which helps to reduce operating costs and ensure sustainable operation of the systems.

Laura Bies, Digitization Professional, AWSI

After completing her Master of Science in Statistics at the University of Trier, where she focused on statistical modeling and data science, Laura Bies gained practical experience in data science at a retail company. She later turned to research and has specialized in the innovative research project FishAI since 2023. In this context, she is using her extensive knowledge to develop an intelligent, data-based feeding system in aquaculture based on camera technology and acoustic sensors. Laura Bie’s passion for data and her commitment to sustainability and animal welfare are the driving forces behind her work.

Benjamin Küther, Science manager at Hochschule Bremerhaven

Benjamin Küther sees himself as a science manager. In his role as a research assistant at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, he conducts research in the field of knowledge and technology transfer and was involved in setting up the Transfer Center for Artificial Intelligence Bremen.AI. He was already fascinated by technology transfer and the management of innovation processes during his diploma studies in business administration. He gained practical experience at the interface between science and business in various management positions at the Technology Transfer Center (ttz) Bremerhaven. He deepened his practical knowledge in this field with a Master’s degree in Science Marketing. The unpredictability of transfer processes still fascinates him today.
