LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT – A VALUABLE TOOL FOR AQUACULTURE

26. February 2024, 16:5017:10

Moderation: Fabian Schäfer, Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB)

Sustainability analysis has been an important aspect in many industries for years, both for internal company development and for demonstrating sustainable business practices to the outside world. A Life Cycle Assessment offers the possibility to evaluate all types of aquaculture systems and species in order to determine the environmental impact of the respective production or product. This presentation will give a brief overview of the benefits of life cycle analysis using a trout farm as an example.

During his studies, he realized that he was interested in nutrition and sustainability.
